In tarot, this card signifies balance, this can be a balance between masculine and feminine energy, a balanced lifestyle or an important life choice that requires a balanced perspective. Of course The Lovers can also reflect the value of its name, as in the presence or foretelling of a romantic relationship. Upright this card shows two lovers that are committed to loving each other faithfully, even in death. In reverse, the card perhaps tells a different story of two unbalanced lovers who drove each other to their untimely fates: think Romeo and Juliet.
